On November 6, the international cultural project platform 'Russian Seasons' launches a new season of the English-language video project Discovering Russia with Russian Seasons. The first film is devoted to a very symbolic place for the Russian imperial family, Tsarskoe Selo.
Tsarskoe Selo Museum-Reserve is a masterpiece of 18th-19th century palace and park art, a former summer residence of the emperors, which became a museum after its nationalization in 1918. Catherine Palace is the compositional and historic center of Tsarskoye Selo, a magnificent example of Baroque. It was designed by Francesco Rastrelli, Empress Elizaveta Petrovna's favorite architect.
"I am sincerely glad that the project Discovering Russia with Russian Seasons has resonated in the hearts of our viewers, and I am pleased to announce the launch of its third season! It will be just as interesting and exciting. This time we've decided to focus on museums, museum-estates, but we will also talk about theaters of world significance! We prepared the films very carefully," said Alexei Lebedev, director of the Russian Seasons project.
During the broadcast, the viewer will get acquainted with the Catherine Palace's magnificent decorations. The walk will begin with the marble Grand Staircase, designed by architect Ippolito Monighetti in the 1860s. After that, the tour will proceed to the exhibition room, where a mid-18th-century wooden mock-up of the Grand Tsarskoselsky Palace is on display. The model demonstrates one of the significant stages in the history of the palace's construction. Viewers will see the luxurious rooms of the Golden Enfilade - the Grand, White Parade, and Cavalier Dining Rooms, the Portrait, and Painting Rooms, and the world-famous Amber Room. It's not the first time Tsarskoye Selo has been the focus of the Russian Seasons project. In 2018, the exhibition '100 Masterpieces from Imperial Residences of Russia: Peterhof, Tsarskoye Selo, Pavlovsk, Gatchina' was included in the extensive Russian Seasons international cultural project program in Italy and was the subject of a unique 'Century of Museums' exhibition, which took place in one of the most beautiful buildings in Palermo - Palazzo Sant'Elia.
"Today's non-standard situation has brought its demands, its difficulties, and has shown how important it is to keep up with the times and be in tune. I am sure life will return to its previous course soon. But it is important to continue sharing the treasures the museum preserves in the online format, and thanks to Discovering Russia with Russian Seasons, this is possible," emphasized Olga Taratinova, Director of the Tsarskoye Selo State Museum-Preserve.
Until the year's end, the audience will be able to enjoy not only the capital's cultural institutions but also regional ones. They are remote from millions of tourists but no less important and an integral part of Russian history: the Spasskoye-Lutovinovo museum-reserve of I.S. Turgenev, the Marble Palace, the Alexandrinsky Theater, the Abramtsevo museum-reserve, the Ethnographic Museum, the Yasnaya Polyana estate museum. You can see all this and much more with Discovering Russia with Russian Seasons.
