The Project is initiated by the Russian Government and the Ministry of Culture. The festival will feature tours of the top Russian artistic ensembles, exhibitions of the largest Russian museums, circus shows, premieres of Russian films and other projects in the hosting country throughout the year. For the first time, the «Russian Seasons», named in honour of the legendary tours of Sergei Diaghilev ballet company, had been staged in 2017 in Japan and gathered over 3.5 million viewers in 42 cities across the country. In 2018, the Festival was hosted by Italy.
«The revival of this project will lead to a quality shift in cultural and humanitarian ties in the world and hopefully to the emergence of new great works of culture ─ this is the main goal of the «Russian seasons» festival in different countries»
More than 400 events are scheduled as part of the festival that will be held in 77 cities of Germany until the end of 2019: exhibitions, theatrical performances, concerts of symphony music, ballets, cinema projects, tours of the leading folk groups, circus and art festivals. There are over 80 institutions of culture among the participants of the «Russian Seasons» in Germany.
The mission of the «Russian Seasons» is the discovery of new opportunities for an intercultural dialogue. This is the essence of cultural diplomacy in the 21st century. This cultural marathon contributes to the development of twinning relations between regions of the countries, and cooperation between governmental, public, and business organizations in the field of culture.
