On 7 January 2019, the opening ceremony of the international cultural project "Russian Seasons" took place at the Berlin Philharmonic. On the Russian side, the project was opened by Ms Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. Soloists of the Mariinsky Opera Company, Chorus and Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Valery Gergiev, performed Tchaikovskys opera Iolanta. In the foyer of the Berlin Philharmonic, the exhibition "Tchaikovsky. The Genius of Opera" on the history of Iolanta and other works by the great Russian composer. Visitors saw unique portraits of Tchaikovsky, manuscripts, covers of the first and lifetime editions of his works.
At the end of 2019, 437 Russian Seasons events took place in Germany: 90 cities in Germany were covered. During 2019, the project involved leading museums, theatres and creative groups in Russia, including the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Mariinsky Theatre, the Mossovet Theatre, the Evgeny Vakhtangov Theatre, the Academy of the Russian Ballet named after A. Ya. Vaganova, Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre, All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra conducted by Yuri Bashmet, Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra, Helikon Opera, Et Cetera Theatre, Trans-Siberian Art Festival, etc.
On 7 December, the Soloists of Moscow ensemble s concert at the Elb Philharmonic in Hamburg opened a series of events to mark the closing of the Russian Seasons project in Germany. The musicians played unique musical instruments of Italian masters of the 17th-18th centuries
