The “Russian Seasons” in Italy

The Russian Minister of Culture Valdimir Medinsky and the Italian Deputy Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dorina Bianchi signed an agreement on hosting the “Russian Seasons” in Italy in 2018 on November 17, 2017 at the VI St.Petersburg International Cultural Forum.


The grand opening took place on January 14, 2018 in Rome when the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre orchestra conducted by maestro Valery Gergiev toured the country. The “Russian Seasons” ended in Italy on December 19th, 2018 with the final concert by a virtuoso pianist Denis Matsuev accompanied by the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Fedoseev who was the member of Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia.

The festival saw more than 310 events taking place, including 35 exhibitions, 37 theater plays, 68 concerts of symphony music, 55 ballet performances, 31 cinema projects, 44 tours of the leading folk ensembles, 45 circus and art festivals.

87 cultural institutions participated in the Italian “Russian Seasons” project. Six million people visited the “Russian Seasons” events in Italy.
