On July 12-14, Dusseldorf will host a tour of a celebrated Moscow cultural institution, "Teatrium on Serpuhovka under the Direction of Tereza Durova". The company will show a play for teenagers, "Awkward Age", and a fairy tale for the little ones, "The Cardboard Man and the Moth", as part of the international cultural project “Russian Seasons” in Germany.
The performances will take place on the stage of the Düsseldorf Junges Schauspielhaus Youth Theatre, whose troupe has come to Moscow "Teatrium" in 2018, to present their "Snow Queen" production. The return visit of Muscovites to the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia develops cooperation and cultural exchange between the "Teatrium on Serpukhovka" and Junges Schauspielhaus theatrical companies.
During the three days of the tour, German public will see four performances of two Russian stage productions. On July 12 and 13, at 7:00 pm, "Awkward Age" by Olga Sidorkevich will be presented. It is recommended for children over 12. The topical play is dedicated to one of the most difficult periods in one's life and tells teenagers about themselves, about their relationships with parents, about coming of age, about choice and about the wonderful ability to “hear with one's heart”.
On July 14 at 11:00 and 16:00, for children over 3 years old and their parents a 40-minute play, "The Cardboard Man and the Moth", will be given. The little spectators will see the story of friendship between a little man and a moth, couched in language of emotions and feelings. The production is a winner of the All-Russian Festival of Theatrical Art "Tales on the Land of Olonkho" (Sakha Republic, Yakutsk) in "Best Musical Performance" and "Best Scenography" nominations.
The tour of "Teatrium on Serpukhovka" will be held for the first time ever in the course of cooperation between Moscow and Dusseldorf as united cities, being the first swallow of interaction in the field of theatre for children, youth, and the whole family.
Founded in 1993, “Teatrium on Serpukhovka under the Direction of Tereza Durova” is one of the most prominent Russian theatres for children. It is the home of productions of large and small theatrical forms conceived as a cross of music, drama, plastics, and clownery. They reflect the time and life of the younger generation, whose challenges are so much similar wherever they live.
The theatre bill annually brings together more than 20 productions for children and adults that are created by recognized masters of Russian stage direction. Since 2011, "Teatrium" started collaboration with European filmmakers and playwrights.
The theatre is actively developing a number of social and cultural projects, such as International Festival of Stage Productions for Children “Gavrosh”, “Classics in New Format”, “European Theatre for Children”, the initiative “Because You Are Needed” focused on children with mental diseases, and others.
The Art Director and Senior Stage Director is People's Artist of Russia Teresa Gannibalovna Durova.
